Great Operatic Mezzo-Sopranos

From best friends to feisty heroines, femme-fatales to goddesses, the mezzo-

soprano voice has been used to represent some of the most famous characters

in opera from Carmen to Delilah, Amneris to Fricka.  These characters have also

been assigned some of opera's greatest music and they have been performed by

some of the greatest singers, from Ebe Stignani to Marilyn Horne, Rise Stevens to

Cecila Bartoli.

Join us for this course where we will examine opera’s most famous mezzo-sopranos

and the roles they have sung.  The course will make extensive use of recordings and
