Nathaniel Kong

Nathaniel Kong (Pianist) is a pianist, arranger and teacher in Sydney.  He was an award winner at the Australian Concerto & Vocal Competition in Townsville performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No.2.  Performances have been with Operantics - an independent opera company set up by young local artists, boutique opera company Opera Bites, The Sydney Fringe Festival, Cantorion Sydney Choir and the Mosman Symphony Chorus and Orchestra.  He is a recording artist at Underwood Studio, and premiered the works of Australian composer Peter Stannard.

He studied under Gerard Willems at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and with Zsuzsanna Giczy at the Australian Institute of Music.  Under the direction of Armenian soprano Arax Mansourian, he has accompanied and regularly performed in the vocal folk song tradition.  Inspired by jazz and blues artists, and virtuosity in improvisation, he is working on putting new twists and colours on old spiritual classics for an album of 'Hymnal Inspirations'.  As well as piano, he plays the pipe organ regularly and was head cellist of the UNSW Orchestra.
